National Trust: Peckover House Garden, Wisbech

Oil pastel of alliums at Peckover House Garden
A3 size
I had to do this sketch really quickly as the bees were out in force and took a liking to me! The allium heads were almost 'blown' and had reached a monumental size - just beautiful.
Oil pastel of large pink Peonie
A3 size
This nearly drove me mad but turned out reasonably well in the end.
Yellow Flag Irises
A3
I finally tracked the last of the irises down in a flower bed near the lawn. Unfortunately the Irises in the deep bed against the outer wall had finished, so I had to content myself with these. Copious amounts of geranium added contrast below. I will complete this drawing next time!

Sketches at Flag Fen, Peterborough

Oil pastel sketch of poppies etc in the flower garden at Flag Fen
Quick pen and ink and Derwent Inktense aquarel pencil drawing of poppies at Flag Fen
I spent a few hours at Flag Fen, an Iron Age site outside Peterborough, with another artist friend. Lots of inspiration from the wild flower garden!

Sketch Book Portraits

Aidan

Illais
I've started portrait drawing again, now that the twins are old enough to sit still for more than 5 minutes at a time! An oil portrait might be pushing it at the moment...
