V & A Inspirations: Wave

'Wave' stage 3
I've almost finished this painting now; I've included some more chrysanthemum motifs on the right and worked in more detail with oil pastels all over the painting, where required. I've also reworked some of the gold enamel, in two different shades. I may tone down the greens to balance the colour and will still need to work on the top left section where I may add more chrysanth motifs in shades of red. When this stage is dry I'll work over the gold/yellow section with pastel where needed and also rework the enamel where the oil paint has obscured detail.
Painting dimensions: H 53 cm x W 42 cm

Update on the Sky blue Sari Panel & Blue Peacock fragment

The Pale Blue Sari panel, renamed 'Sky Blue Sari' is awaiting it's resin coat, the resin has just been delivered by the post man so I can get cracking!

The 'Blue Peacock fragment' has had a bit of a halt in it's progress, namely a complete change to the initial framing idea, so it's back to the framers for a second go. All will be revealed soon!

V&A inspirations: Waves

'Waves' : the panel so far

Sketch book page: Peonie and
Chrysanthemums

Sketch book page of Chinese fabric references
I've started on the first  of a series of paintings inspired from my V&A sketches and photos, and have included some references from Chinese fabrics I have collected. I am working with Windsor & Newton oils on Thai hand made paper as usual, with gold enamel paints in two shades.
